How To Dress More Modesty

When I was researching the do's and don'ts of the Catholic Church I wanted to make sure that I was dressing in a way that was more pleasing to the LORD. So I wear shirts with higher necklines and skirts and dresses that came just passed the knees. Ok yes when I was baptized I started wearing skirts and dresses all the time but that doesn't mean you have to do it all the time if you are not comfortable doing so. But I do encourage you to dress more modest if you aren't already because after learning that our body is a temple of Christ and knowing men will do anything to lust after woman just wanting her for her body and not her heart is a bit sad if you think about it. Heres a definition of what christian modesty is.

"Modesty in the way we dress is not just for church; it is to be the standard for all Christians at all times. The key to understanding what constitutes modesty in dress is to examine the attitudes and intents of the heart. Those whose hearts are inclined toward God will make every effort to dress modestly, decently, and appropriately. Those whose hearts are inclined toward self will dress in a manner designed to draw attention to themselves with little or no regard for the consequences to themselves or others.

A godly woman endeavors to do everything with a “God-ward” perspective. She knows that God wants His people to be concerned for His glory and the spiritual state of their brothers and sisters in Christ. If a woman professes to be a Christian yet she dresses in a way that will unduly draw attention to her body, she is a poor witness of the One who bought her soul by dying for her on the cross. She is forgetting that her body has been redeemed by Christ and is now the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19–20). She is telling the world that she determines her own worth on a purely physical basis and that her attractiveness depends on how much of her body she reveals to them. Further, by dressing in an immodest fashion, displaying her body for men to lust after, she causes her brothers in Christ to sin, something condemned by God (Matthew 5:27–29). Proverbs 7:10 mentions a woman “dressed like a prostitute and with crafty intent” here, the woman’s heart condition is displayed by her manner of dress".

And if you are still a bit hesitant here are ten reasons to dress more modest

10 Modesty reflects an understanding of who a woman truly is.

Modesty starts inside a person’s heart and mind. Who am I? Why do I exist? If a woman answers she is a beautiful daughter of God, then modesty will naturally follow.

9 Modesty isn’t about dressing in unattractive clothes as some think it is.

There are too many options in clothing to not give modesty a try. Yes, it might not be the first thing on the rack you go shopping for, but it is worth finding clothing that brings out a woman’s beauty without revealing too much.

8 Modesty attracts the kind of guys you ought to want to attract.

If a woman is afraid that she must turn a man’s eye by dressing immodestly, then she should ask herself just what kind of guy does she want to attract?

7 Mary dressed modestly.

Truly there is no more beautiful woman who ever lived than Mary. Why wouldn’t any woman want to be more like her?

6 It helps protect women.

A woman can still dress to be beautiful, but the mystery of a woman’s body is protected from being used. Modesty provides a needed defense against usage.

5 It sets a good example for others.

Young girls and teens need good examples of beautiful women who are modest. The attacks of immodest are Legion and we need a good counter-example.

4 Women are worthy of respect.

Respect can be easily lost when a woman tries to promote herself by being immodest.

3  It helps your brothers to avoid lust.

Women would be shocked if they were to enter the head of the average modern young man in a crowded room of immodest women. This isn’t to blame an immodestly dressed woman for a man’s sin of lust. But, men today need all the help they can get to fight lust and sin. Won’t you help them?

2 It shows true beauty.

A woman’t true beauty comes from her dignity of being made in God’s image. If any woman wants to truly reflect God’s beauty, it starts with modesty.

1 It is a virtue.

Modesty is a virtue that helps control behavior so we do not excite the sexuality of another. It is also a fruit of the Holy Spirit. All of us could use more virtue in our lives.

My Sisters in Christ I really hope you consider becoming more modest in the way you dress before your baptisms because you are becoming a daughter of the holiest father that there is. it's our goal in life to please our father even you don't have physical father here on earth you have a heavenly father loves you and wants the best for you in every way.

The Catechism Of The Catholic Church

When I started R.C.I.A (Rite Of Christian Initiation of Adults) we were given two books a youth prayer book and a youth version of the Catechism of the catholic church. We were given the you cat version of the Catechism because its the easiest one to understand. The Catechism of the catholic church is a book all about what the church teaches and what we believe.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) “is a statement of the Church’s faith and of Catholic doctrine, attested to or illuminated by Sacred Scripture, the Apostolic Tradition and the Church’s teachings .
It is offered to all the faithful who wish to deepen their knowledge of the unfathomable riches of salvation. It is meant to support ecumenical efforts… [and] lastly, is offered to every individual who asks us to give an account of the hope that is in us and who wants to know what the Catholic Church believes.”
The Catechism of the Catholic Church arranges the material in four parts:

Creed

The Profession of Faith

The Christian mystery, the object of faith: it is what the Catholic Church believes and is summed up in the Creeds of the Church (The creeds: The Apostles’ Creed and The Nicene Creed) with the Holy Trinity (three persons in one God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) as the central mystery of the faith.

Sacraments

The Celebration of the Christian Mystery

How this Christian mystery is celebrated and communicated in liturgical actions, with pride of place given to the sacraments.

Morality

Life in Christ

This Christian faith is present to enlighten and sustain the children of God in their actions as explained beginning with the Ten Commandments and more completely by the Beatitudes. What does it mean to be human, to have dignity, and to be free? And what is the right use of our dignity and freedom?

Prayer

Christian Prayer

And finally, this faith is the basis for our prayer, the privileged expression of which is the Our Father, and it represents the object of our supplication, our praise and our intercession.

Happy New Year Day

Now that Christmas has ended and the new year has started it's time to started thinking about lent and easter. Lent starts in a little over three months on Wednesday March 1st. So its time to start thinking what to give up or start doing for Lent. Here some ideas of what you should do for the forty days.

Things you could give up for Lent:
  • Television (or certain shows)
  • The radio (all the time, certain time of day, etc.)
  • Favorite foods (pizza, ice cream, etc.)
  • Eating out
  • Soft drinks/caffeine/coffee
  • Clutter
  • Debt (using credit cards)
  • Certain books/magazines (read ones that will help you grow spiritually)
  • Social Media sites (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)
  • Computer use/blogging
  • Negativity/Stress
  • Gossip
  • Road rage
  • Lying
  • Swearing
  • Addictions
  • Procrastination
  • Working overtime (unnecessarily)
Things to do during Lent:
  • Going to Mass more than once
  • Praying the Rosary
  • Attending Stations of the Cross
  • Making time for personal prayer with the Lord
  • Praying with your family
  • Going to Confession
  • Quiet time
  • Commitment to exercise
  • Being a better friend
  • Staying positive
  • Volunteering
  • Works of Mercy (feed the hungry, clothe the naked, visit the sick, etc.)
  • Being on time
For my first Lent I gave up Facebook. And what started doing was I gave up pants and started wearing skirts and dresses and more modest types of shirts that don't expose my womanly parts to the world that does not need to see them and haven't worn pants since 2014. I would say that if your going to mass it's a good idea to dress more feminine because thats how God made us. He made us women to dress in skirts and dresses because we were different than man. But by all means if you don't feel comfortable in skirts and dresses try to wear a higher neck line on shirts so your "girls" aren't showing. We don't need unnecessary men lusting after us.

Merry CHRISTmas

Merry Christmas everyone. I hope everyone had or is having a blessed Christmas today.

In that region there were shepherds living in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. Then an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid for seeI am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people 11 to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the ,the Lord. 12 This will be a sign for you: you will find a child wrapped in bands of cloth and lying in a manger.” 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host,[b] praising God and saying,14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven and on earth peace among those whom he favors!” (NRSVCE)
I hope that you could make it to midnight mass and the snow was not giving you any trouble. I pray you made it safe to you're families homes to celebrate the birth of Jesus with your loved ones. remember today is not just about the presents and the food its about the birth of Jesus and spending the day with your loved ones.
My hope for the new year is to encourage as many young ladies with this blog as possible. I also hope that many more young ladies will hear the called from the LORD to enter the church this coming year of 2017. As the new year comes I will still be seeking out what kind of vocation the LORD has in store for my life going forward. Even If it's just to continue volunteering for my parish and growing this blog into something of a blessing to others and maybe also starting a youtube channel to correspond with the blog.
